Hi Antonio, is it still recommended that the metal spring plate is removed from the hot shoe? A customer of ours has mentioned that they use other triggers too and it will be an awkward step each time they change between kit. Thanks! Blaise
Yes, we would recommend it but some Fuji users did not remove the metal spring and it still functions fine with the V6 II.
On a side technical note, you don't really need the spring plate per se, as it only helps a little for stabilizing the flash device mounted on camera hot shoe. When you have tightened the lock lever on a flash or trigger, it's more than sufficient in keeping it in place.
Cheers!

When I tested with the shutter speed up to 1/250s, it works fine. However the shutter speed past 1/250s, the picture started having a shutter shadow from the bottom, then around 1/1250s, the picture is completely black covered by the shutter. This means that it looks like the HSS function of V6II is not properly working. Antonio, would you tell me what setting needs to be configued to make HSS work?
When you set the shutter speed above 1/250s, did you push in the Dial to turn Forced HSS on?
Cheers!

Same here, tried on x-t1 and x-t2 and it works until 1/250. Then when I press force hss it just doesn't fire the rf60.
How about 1/500s?
And have you already completed LEARN HSS?
Lastly, what firmware version is your V6 II running on?
Thanks!

Problem seams to be changing... Right now I am running into the same issue above. Flash won't fire with forced HSS on (at 1/500 or 1/1000), but will fire with it off and shutter at or below 1/250. It was working prior to updating to the latest firmware on the flash and before I took the spring clip off.
Before updating and taking the spring clip off, I was unable to change the power settings on the flash via the on camera V6 ii. Setting things manually (i.e. flash and camera to Fuji) made it so that HSS did not work (it worked if I auto detected), which I am guessing is because there is no x500 profile?
If you could provide a step by step sequence of how to get things working, that would be much appreciated.
So obviously it's not going to work, espeically with HSS. Because the X500 represents Fujifilm's first attempt in their own high-speed sync. On the other hand, the V6 II (firmware up till 1.1.007) is Cactus workaround method on Fujifilm camera and flash system before the arrivial X500.
That said, we shall have a new firmware to work with the new Fujifilm flash system.
Thank you.

Thanks for the quick response Antonio. Unfortunately with conflicting reports out there on people getting it to work, it wasn't so obvious.
I would love to stick it out and wait for the firmware update, but the future for the x500 flash doesn't look super reliable. Do you have an estimate on when we might see a new firmware update on your end?

For my use, reliable off-camera HSS is a must. With no one supporting it right now (5 months into release), it doesn't give me much confidence to stick with the flash.
Ah I thought you were referring to the flash itself being not reliable. The X500 seems to be well built. And at least on our copy it's software performing quite well too.
So I hope our 2-3 month estimate is not too long a wait for you?

I bought the Cactus V6II two months ago and I can't make it work with my flashes.
I own 2 Yongnuo YN-568EX II, Fuji X-pro2 ( Firmware 2.0 ) and 3 Cactus ( Cactus Firmware Updater V1.08)
I removed the metal part from the fuji hot shoe adapter.
The cactus only triggers the flash when I push the test button on the Cactus receiver or transmitter but it does not trigger the flash when I press the shutter button on the fuji camera. The shutter speed on the camera is set to 60 ( it does not work at high speed either ). The flashes work when they are on the camera Hot shoe adapter.
Can someone please help me get gear working correctly!
P.S. I saw the guide setting up the cactus triggers on the funji camera and I think I got all the settings right.

V6II on Fuji Xpr2 or XT2.....RF60 in left hand. Not working at HSS. This is a bummer. Need to shoot in HSS this weekend. I tried everything to solve it myself. What can i do to get i working?
Seems like your RF60 is not running on the latest firmware version.
Hold down NEXT and switch on the flash, you should see 2.04. If not, you will need to update it using the Cactus FIrmware Updater.
Make sure you click the smaller button above the UPDATE button, it reads "Check for Latest Firmware".
Then select 2.04, and then finally click UPDATE.

Hi Antonio. I've a Fuji X-T2 and recently bought the Cactus flash RF60x and V6 II.
What I know is that the RF60x has a built-in receiver to work off-camera with the V6 II. I've removed the metal spring hot shoe of my X-T2, mounted the V6II on it & set to TX mode, and the V6II detected my camera as Fuji. I've already set the flash and V6 II on the same group, channel and radio ID. I've also updated the latest firmware version of these devices. The problem is, the RF60x won't flash when I press the camera shutter button. Do I need to use a shutter release cable?
I've also tried to learn the HSS for my X-T2, but failed to do so until the time is out, no matter how many times I tried to shoot at 1/1000s. Is it because of the new firmware version of the X-T2?
So what do I need to do to make everything work? (This is my first time to have a flash and transceiver, so maybe I missed something or did something wrong with the setup.)
What was the distance between the RF60X and your camera?
For testing purposes (and in most real life situation), place the RF60X 3 meters from where your camera is.
You may also need to redo LEARN HSS until the V6 II captures the most-used shutter timing of your Fujifilm camera.
Thanks and keep us posted.

Hi I just bought cactus v6ii because I need off-camera hss but with fuji xt10 and nissin i40 is no working. Nissin is in hss mode. I learn TX HSS several times (20 mabye 30) reset to factory updated to last firmware 1.1.008 but there is no chance to property flashing with hss. Flash is working but there is no syncro Do You have maybe beta firmware?
Hi I just bought cactus v6ii because I need off-camera hss but with fuji xt10 and nissin i40 is no working. Nissin is in hss mode.
Are you talking about the "HSS hack" on the i40 in Manual mode?
I think what you need is wait for Nissin to release a new firmware for the i40 to support HSS.
Firmware on the V6 II cannot activate HSS mode on a flash that does not support HSS in the first place.

Today I put cactus v6ii on top of camera and nissin i40 on top of this cactus transmiter in that combination hss is working normal with this flash. And one more thing I saw there is small delay between when I puting the trigger and flash. So in my opinion there is no synchro between TX and RX - no on line RX - Flash because on top of camera is working
Hi Antonio. Today got cactus v6 ll and RX60F Updated firmwares for both of them to the last ones which came off in May. Also updated to last firmware my Fuji xt2 Problem I couldn't get through LEARN HSS it's just doesn't learn. When I switch the camera and press half shutter and switch on the v6 ll camera recognised the camera as F and in the menu also can see camera as Fuji. Even when I switch the trigger on it's automatically detected the Fuji as a camera without pressing half shutter. I had removed the plate from the shoe and no changes. Actually it detected the camera with the the spring plate and same as without. What I'm missing?
Could you clarify what you mean by not getting through LEARN HSS it's just doesn't learn.
After taking a shot at above camera's x-sync, a quick message pops up on the V6 II, something like "Learn Complete". Or are you saying that this never appeared so you think the learning was not done?
Another tip on is to aim at the direction of your actual shot so the ambient exposure is the same.
Also, set the shutter speed at your intended setting. If you are going to shoot at 1/4000s, DO NOT learn at 1/1000s.
FYI the V6 II displayed "1/1000s" on the V6 II only as an example, that you should set the shutter speed above camera's maximum x-sync speed, and not necessary at 1/1000s.
After <LEARN HSS>, did you also turn on <FORCED HSS> by pushing in on the Adjustment Dial?

Is there an ETA for the updated firmware that doesn't have the "Learn HSS" requirement. I find I'm needing to do that too often as lighting conditions change outdoors so I'm excited to try the firmware that natively supports it rather than requiring the "hack". Having said that I'm happy with the product so far, otherwise I couldn't HSS at all with my Fuji!
