AF-Assist doesn't work with Canon 5D4.

I purchased two V6 II, for using AF-Assist function. And I have Canon 5D4, 6D and 7D.

The problem is AF-Assist function doesn't work with my Canon 5D Mark4.
It works well with 6D and 7D.

Does anyone have the same problem?

  • Maybe the Canon 5D Mark IV is not capable to transmit the AF assist light info via the hotshoe. On that case you can use the manual option to turn on the AF assist light on the V6II.

    The 580EX strobe I possess is also equipped with features like AF Assist, which works well with 5D4 and other cameras. So I think some signal has been transmitted through the hot shoe, but V6II has not been able to catch the signal.

    Explain the purpose I am using, I use it to shoot DJs and customers in a nightclub. CactusV6II is very convenient for taking strobes on the DJ booth and shooting with backlight from a distant place or shooting a customer with a strobe on the left hand.

    Manual setting is not good for me because the red light always keeps shining in the dark. In addition, it has a problem that the red light will have an effect on the photo as it will delay the LED getting off a little when shooting.

    We tested the V6 II on a Canon 5D4, and unfortunately this camera model indeed does not support AF assist automatically. We can only address this issue on future transceiver model.
