Fuji Xpro2 not connecting to Cactus v6 II

edited June 2018 in V6 II Problems
I can't get the xpro2 to connect with the cactus v6 II.
Updated firmware; tried everything, but the camera doesn't recognize the cactus.
Flash works on camera.
flash fires on remote cactus via button on the remote--not from camera.
cactus on TX connects to 2nd cactus on RX.
But camera does not recognize the cactus on it's hotshoe.
Any suggestions before I dump cactus?

  • What firmware version are you using? Is it the X-TTL variant?

Note that the multi-brand version (e.g., V1.1.013) requires you to turn on the camera first and keep it active, say by tapping the shutter release button, while turning on the V6II.

The V6II should confirm successful communication with the camera by showing a letter "F" in the camera icon after a short initialisation/detection period.

If the "F" does not appear (leave the camera system on "AUTO"-detect while troubleshooting) then your V6II fails to properly make contact with the hot-shoe of your camera. In this case, removing the spring in the hot-shoe seems to be a successful move for many. This should be a reversible procedure, so if you are sensible and use a non-scratching implement, you should be able to undo your action, should it not improve matters.
  • Hello @billslavin

As @Class A above and on our compatible table, for the Fujifilm X-Pro2, you need to remove the metal spring plate from camera hot shoe. This is especially required on early production batches (pre December 2017).

For more recent units, we used a new spring on one of the contact pin of the V6 II which no longer require the user to remove the metal spring plate from camera hot shoe.

For testing purposes, please do give this a try and let us know how you get on.

And if you are using the Fujifilm X-TTL firmware on your V6 II, you can confirm a good hot shoe connection by observing the [CAMERA INFO] screen on the V6 II.

As always, prior to conducting any tests, we recommend doing a Factory Reset: Menu > Preference > Factory Reset

Hope this helps. And please do not hesitate to let us know if you need further assistance.

    Thank you.

To help us better help you, always state the exact firmware version installed on your Cactus device(s), such as: "1.1.013", "NIK.A.001", "v.103", or "A06".

TTL or HSS not working on Cactus V6 II and V6 IIs? Be sure to check hot shoe connectivity by doing the <CAMERA INFO> check.
