fuji xpro 1

the cactus v6 II works on the fuji xpro 1????
high sync speed???

Comments

  • X-Pro1 is leaf shutter and Fujifilm said they won't update the firmware of this model. So unfortunately no HSS.

Fujifilm wants you to get the X-Pro2

  • "Leaf shutters as used in professional cameras like the Hasselblad and large format cameras can sync at any speed. This is because their leaves open completely at all speeds, at which point the flash is fired. There is no slit or partial opening at the fastest speeds."
    how about this????
  • Sorry I got mixed up with X100, which uses a leaf shutter, the X-Pro1 uses a focal plane shutter. Apologies for the confusion.

    But in a nutshell...

    X-Pro2 works.

    But not X-Pro1.

In Layman's term, Fujifilm has given up on X-Pro1.

For example if you mount Fujifilm EF-X500 on X-Pro2, HSS no problem. But if you mount EF-X500 on X-Pro1, HSS will not work. The reason is the camera firmware on X-Pro1 is not made to support HSS natively. (So you actually need to contact Fujifilm if you want X-Pro1 to work smoothly with HSS but I doubt they would react?).

That said, it's not the end of the world, you can use the workaround method offered by Cactus - Forced HSS.

    Bit of history...

When Cactus first released the Multi-brand HSS firmware on V6 II, Fujifilm has not released the EF-X500 so HSS was nonexistent on any Fujifilm X series camera bodies.

Fujifilm camera users with the Cactus V6 II simply needs to go to the Menu, under , then select and follow the on-screen instructions. Next before taking a shot in HSS, you have to manually turn on Forced HSS - push in the Selection Dial once.

Below screen captures from V6 II's user manual for your easy reference. Download it here.

    Hope this helps!

I just tested on our X-Pro1, 1/4000s working beautifully.

One thing to note, which has been discussed previously here on the forums, since the Forced HSS is a way of bending reality of older Fujifilm camera firmware, it isn't perfect and will have its drawbacks. That is when shooting in a new area with different ambient lighting from your previous shot, you may need to redo . Otherwise you will start seeing shadow banding appearing on the image.

Shout if you need further assistance with your setup.

    Thanks!

  • so,,the if this works on the fuji x pro 1,then it should work on the x a1 ???
    or any other fuji camera???
  • No, for example, the X-M1 does not work.

What we reckon is Fujifilm has many teams of engineers and they don't always use the same set of protocols.

Do let us know if you require further assistance.

    Thank you!
