NIK.A.004 AF Problem

If you put Nikon SB910 and VR6 II to camera with NIK.A.003 I have extremely slow AF problem in the dark. However I just update to NIK.A.004 and not AF assist light doesnt work at all.
So please test your Nikon firmware with SB910+VTR6 II + Nikon Camera. You will see that AF assist light will not work on camera side or remote at all in AF-S.

  • Thank you for the information. I have D750 and SB910 in hand, the V6 II AF assist works here.

I'm guessing your V6 II TX unit that doesn't receive AF assist signal from the camera. In case you are using liveview mode on the camera, the AF assist will be deactivated. You may switch to optical view finder and test again.

Let me know whether that help.

    Cheers!

  • Thanks for the reply.
I record video for the problem.
I have 5 VR6 II and all upgrated to NIK.A.004. Test 3 of them and same result.
My camera (D700 and D800)already has latest firmware. SB-900 and SB-910 already has latest firmware.
I try VR6 II factory reset too.
No liveview at all. When I install or turn on on camera flash, AF assist tuns off. Camera copmetely be unresponsive in the dark.
When I turn off on camera flash, everything is fine (all remote VR6 II are also fine too).
I try different on camera flash and no luck.
You can see my video here:

I can upload better video quality if you need.
  • Thank you for the video. It seems to be a bug when using "On camera TTL". I've report the bug to our engineering team to fix it.

For now, you may turn use "AF-CONTINUOUS" to "AUTO" in the TX menu. That will allow you to use the AF assist during On camera TTL mode.

    All the best,
