Pentax and Sony compatibility

Hi guys,

I have a Sony A7rIII and some Godox flashes that I use with the X1Ts for wireless TTL and HSS etc. I also have a Pentax 645z that I would like to use with said flashes and I am wondering if the Cactus V6II would be the right way to go. Would TTL and HSS work on the Pentax if I use a Cactus and the X1T (for Sony) on top?

Also, I have a pair of AD360s (non-TTL) that fire on HSS with the X1Ts controller on the Sony. Would the same set up on the Pentax work (645z with the Cactus and then the X1Ts)?

I know Godox has some options for wireless x-TTL for the Pentax now, but I am considering the Cactus so I can also use it with my Profoto heads.

Thanks in advance!
E

    Hello,

Godox X1T for Sony uses MI shoe, which is quite different than ISO hot shoe. The V6 II top hot shoe is standard ISO hot shoe, unlike Sony MI shoe. So, it's no way to talk to Sony flash or trigger. I'm afraid that using Pentax camera to trigger Sony flash or trigger is not possible.

  • Dear Sir,
I want to know if the Godox X-Pro(P) mounted on Pentax K1 can trigger with CactusVII mounted on the Metz64AF-1(for Pentax) flash.
    Thanks for your advice.

The XPro-P cannot trigger a Cactus V6II directly.

You either need two V6II units (and use trigger stacking, if you want to use the XPro at the same time), or you could try to connect a Godox X1R receiver to the V6II receiver. You wouldn't have remote power level control in this case (unless you got a second V6II unit) and there may be issues with the delay introduced.

Godox don't make a Pentax-specific X1R unit (yet?), so currently there is no way to only use an XPro-P to control a Metz 64 AF-1 (for Pentax).
