When TTL passthrough is enabled, remote flashes will not fire

Hello, based on reading the manual and video tutorials, I'm under the assumption that I can use a TTL on camera flash (usually bouncing flash at events) while still firing remote flashes with their manual powers set via the V6 transmitter (I'm not expecting remote TTL functions, just on camera ttl + manual off camera flashes). When I turn the TTL passthrough mode on my TX on camera, my remote flashes/ V6 RX units will not fire. If I turn the TTL passthrough on the TX on camera OFF (so the on camera flash is in manual mode) the RX units do fire. I'm very, very confused.

  • For absolutely no reason, everything started working properly.

I'll try to update the firmware on these asap to maybe work on the bugs. (unfortunately I don't have a PC readily available, only a mac).
  • Wonderful!

Just in case you are using Canon camera and speedlite with V6 in TTL pass-through mode, please select a Canon flash profile in the V6. The reason is that the V6 requires extra protocol to handle the latest model of Canon camera in TTL pass-through. I guess that's why your RX doesn't fire at the first time.

By the way, we are working on the firmware updater for Mac. Hopefully, it should be released soon.

    All the best.

Same problem here, Nikon D3s with V6 and SB900 mounted on top, the remote SB800 won't fire if I turn on TTL Pass-through mode on TX V6, it fires when TTL Pass-through mode is off.

Problem not solved yet, updated firmware already.

Problem solved, didn't notice that I have to download the most updated firmware manually with the updater software, everything works fine now.
  • Excellent! I'm glad to hear that.
