headphone jack surface mount weakness

On 2 on my cactus V6 units, the headphone jack, which is a surface mount component has separated from the circuit board. Including one that fell sevaral inches, got snagged on the headphone sync cable (I normally used coiled cables, but in this instance it was using a right angle non-coiled 12" cable) and then fell another foot to the ground. The surface mount component has completely separated from the circuit board. On some other electronic equipment that I have the headphone jack is a through mount component.

    I'm sorry to hear that.

My wild guess the cable plug which inserted to the V6 jack is not suitable. The suggested shutter release cable for the V6 is 14mm in length. If the plug is over-length, it may damage the jack.

My another thought is the soldering on the V6 is not strong enough to hold the jack in position when plugging and unplugging. Can you send me the photo of the damaged circuit broad to my email at raychan@harvest-one.com ? I will take it to our technician for further inspection.

By the way, have you got a chance to contact your dealer for warranty? They should have our coverage for all Cactus product.

If you need help , just let me know.
