Can I trigger a PW via the hotshoe on the V6?

Hello,

We have about 7 or 8 PW Plus3's, and would like to continue using these in conjunction with the V6 for manual shooting.

Is the V6 able to trigger a single PW (set to trans) via the V6's hotshoe?  The idea is that from there, the PW would then trigger our other PWs until we can replace them with V6s.

Alternatively, if the V6 is mounted to the camera hotshoe, and I also have a sync cord connected to a PW, can the camera trigger both items as transmitters so that the V6 will talk to its siblings, and the PW to the other PWs?

Many thanks!
Jerry

  • Hello @JerryLevin,

We have tested specifically with the PLUS III, but a FlexTT5 works.

What we did was we mount the TT5, set to Transmitter mode, on a V6 top hot shoe. When we press the Test Button, we see LED signal lights up on both devices at the same time. So theoritically it should also work on your PLUS III.

You can replicate our test above and see if it works for you as well.

    Thanks and keep us posted!

To help us better help you, always state the exact firmware version installed on your Cactus device(s), such as: "1.1.013", "FUJ.1.002", "NIK.A.001", "v.103".

For the time being, Cactus V6 (MK1) running on firmware version 2.1.001 can be triggered by a V6 II (MK2) running on Multi-brand HSS firmware (e.g. 1.1.013) but not by X-TTL firmware versions:  PEN.A.001 NIK.A.001 OLY.A.001.  No schedule has been released yet for an "A" version firmware on the V6 (MK1).

Cactus RF60X / RF60 Firmware versions A04 and A03 currently ONLY works with PEN.A.001 NIK.A.001 and OLY.A.001.  Other "A" version of X-TTL firmware will be released soon. For both Multi-brand HSS and X-TTL firmware versions (FUJ, SIG, SON), install firmware version 103 / 205 on your RF60X / RF60.
