1/200 sync problem with Nikon D750

My current setup is using a Nissin Di866 Mark II Canon compatible on my V6 trigger with the correct Canon profile and using a v6 as the trigger on my D750. I've noticed that all shots fired at 1/200s have part of the shutter curtain in the bottom of my picture. When I change the speed to 1/160 or lower this is not a problem.

If i test and put the flash directly on the Nikon hotshoe I can shoot at 1/200 all day without this problem. Is there a problem with my units or do I lose 1/3 of a stop of shutter speed using these triggers?

  • Forgot to add that both V6 units are using the most up to date firmware and so is the Nikon camera

    To help us better help you, always state the exact firmware version installed on your Cactus device(s), such as: "1.1.013", "FUJ.1.002", "NIK.A.001", "v.103".

    For the time being, Cactus V6 (MK1) running on firmware version 2.1.001 can be triggered by a V6 II (MK2) running on Multi-brand HSS firmware (e.g. 1.1.013) but not by X-TTL firmware versions:  PEN.A.001 NIK.A.001 OLY.A.001.  No schedule has been released yet for an "A" version firmware on the V6 (MK1).

    Cactus RF60X / RF60 Firmware versions A04 and A03 currently ONLY works with PEN.A.001 NIK.A.001 and OLY.A.001.  Other "A" version of X-TTL firmware will be released soon. For both Multi-brand HSS and X-TTL firmware versions (FUJ, SIG, SON), install firmware version 103 / 205 on your RF60X / RF60.

  • Hi, is there any update on this matter? What is the highest shutter speed for D750 when using V6 remote flash trigger?

    My current flash trigger also gives a tiny dark bar at the bottom of my images at 1/200s. I worry it will be the same for V6.
  • @Silvermoose
    I am sorry for the late reply.
    The problem lies with the Nissin flash.  We found out that many of the flash models take more time to react thus having the sync problem. So far this problem was discovered on Nikon versions.

    @yungyaw
    Using a Nikon speedlight 1/200s will have no problems with banding (tiny dark bar) issues.

  • @Antonio
    Can D750 go beyond 1/200s when using Nikon speedlight? 1/250s? or faster?
  • @yungyaw, you've got it!

    Either electronic shutter or leaf shutter cameras would do the trick.

  • @Antonio, thanks. I think I'm limited by D750 1/200s. Unless I go for full TTL wireless flash trigger that support real HSS.
