Metz 64 AF-1 For Sony and Cactus v6

Hi,

Is the Metz 64 AF-1 for Sony supported by the Cactus v6?

I did a search and saw mention about this flash model for Pentax not being support. There's also another mention about using another flash profile for the Metz 64 AF-1, but I'm not sure if this is for Sony and also if this has been verified to work?

Thank you.

  • Sony flashes in general is not supported by the V6 - at least not for remote power control*.

As for the Met 64 AF-1, we have just tested that the centre hot shoe pin does not line up with the V6's so even with the Metz in Manual mode it cannot be triggered, unfortunately.

    * - remote power control requires the flash to be set to TTL mode. The Sony transmits / receives TTL signals through Sony's Multi-Interface Shoe (MIS), which is via a row of contact pins at the front of the hot shoe. Despite the centre pin of Sony's MIS looks like it's at the centre of the hot shoe but it is located slightly different than standard ISO hot shoe.

To help us better help you, always state the exact firmware version installed on your Cactus device(s), such as: "1.1.013", "FUJ.1.002", "v.103".

For the time being, Cactus V6 (MK1) running on firmware version 2.1.001 can be triggered by a V6 II (MK2) running on Multi-brand HSS firmware (e.g. 1.1.013) and not by X-TTL firmware versions: PEN.A.001 and OLY.A.001.  No schedule has been released yet.

Cactus RF60X / RF60 Firmware versions A01 and A02 currently ONLY works with PEN.A.001 and OLY.A.001.  Other "A" version of X-TTL firmware will be released soon. For both Multi-brand HSS and X-TTL firmware versions (FUJ, SIG, SON), install firmware version 103 / 205 on your RF60X / RF60.

Cactus RF60 is now an off-camera TTL flash with firmware version 205 or later!

Metz M400 (for Fujifilm) is now supported on the Cactus V6 II (HSS and TTL).

  • Sorry for the late reply

Since the center pin of the Sony MIS doesn't line up, can I still use the Cactus v6 with the a6000?

Also, regarding the Metz 64 af-1, it supports a cable in. This is how I connect this flash to my Yongnuo trigger. Does the cactus v6 allow me to plug in the flash cable so i can connect the Metz to it?

    Thank you.
  • The V6 works on the A6000, as well as the A7, A99.

Using a Sync cable connection would work. With the flash in M mode, the V6 can trigger a flash via the 3.5mm jack.

    Thanks!
