Is my set up wrong ?

edited October 2016 in V6 II Problems
Hi everyone,

I freshly purchased a RF60 and pair of V6 II ( both with the latest firmware ) to use for D500 and X pro2.
After having spent hours and hours, my set up is still too unstable to use on professional purpose and I hope someone could help me out.

In both case It only works one time out of, say, five or six.
All the units are always set on the same channel and group. I used the eneloop batteries fully charged.
Flash is set slave mode. I also tried on the receiver.

With D500, flash fires but does not synchronize above 1/250. Even though flash fires, above 1/250, I only have the flash effect at the bottom of image, not the whole image so HSS does not work.
Trigger set up: camera system Nikon, Flash system Auto and I tried Nikon as well, Sync mode both Normal HSS and Power sync.

With X pro2, I have had my trigger learn HSS and turned forced HSS On, took the hot shoe spring off. When it works, I  noticed that at certain distance, either flash does fire but does not synchronize ( image taken with no effect of flash ) or does not fire at all although the trigger and the receiver talk each other when I use the test button on the trigger.

Thank you in advance

  • Hi there @7Stars,

...I freshly purchased a RF60 and pair of V6 II ( both with the latest firmware ) to use for D500 and X pro2...

Jst to confirm, what are the firmware versions currently running on your V6 II and RF60?

To help us better help you, always state the exact firmware version installed on your Cactus device(s), such as: "1.1.013", "NIK.A.001", "v.103", or "A06".

TTL or HSS not working on Cactus V6 II and V6 IIs? Be sure to check hot shoe connectivity by doing the <CAMERA INFO> check.

Feel free to suggest an improvement or share product ideas. Contact us directly at  At Cactus, we listen.
  • It reads as if you have a V6II receiver attached to the RF60? You said you had the flash plus 2 V6IIs ..... It is not necessary to use a receiver on the RF60 as the flash has it built in.....

Sorry if this is not the case, but just wondering if this might be an issue .... ?
