Will the V6ii fire the V6 as receivers?

Hello,

I'm unable to use the V6ii as a transmitter to fire the V6's  as receivers.... the compatibility tables appear to indicate that this is possible. I've just updated the latest firmware on a V6 and can't get to be fired by either of the new V6ii I have.

Let me know if I'm not understanding the compatibility table and this will not work with my older V6's, or let me know how to get them to work?

  • Scott,
The lastest V6 firmware is Dec 2015.My understanding is that there is new V6 firmware coming out (but it's not out yet) that allows V6 IIs to command V6.

  • Hey @ScottKrebs, @outsider is corect; we will release a new firmware on the V6 I so that the V6 II will be able to communicate with it.
Thank you in advance for your patience!

  • @Antonio, is there an expected release time frame for the new V6 firmware?
Are we talking days? weeks? months?

    Thanks,

    Hi Antonio,
I was wondering if the new firmware will allow the V6II to learn profiles already created on a V6.  The reason I ask is that I have three V6 which I have installed SB80DX profiles. I would like to be able to install the same profiles onto the new V6II's I have recently purchased.
    Any help gratefully appreciated,
    Paul
  • I think the Nikon SB80DX does not support HSS...?
And the flash may also only does analogue TTL, which the V6 II does not support.

V6 = analogue TTL flashes, legacy models
V6 II = digital TTL flashes

You may try and mount the SB80DX on the V6 II, and try and have it auto-detect the flash.

  • Will this firmware update allow me to do HSS with a Fuji X-Pro2 + V6II trigger and one or more flashguns (Godox with HSS) using V6 as receivers?

No, if you want HSS, both TX and RX has to be V6 II.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Antonio,

When can we expect the new firmware update to allow the V6II to control the V6I please?

    Thanks

  • Hi @Suzi_Shop

We have been debugging the firmware and it should be ready very soon, probably during the last week of October. (next week)

    Thanks!

  • I guess I'm having similar issues.

I have four V6's and I just purchased three V6ii's.

The as a Tx, the V6ii will trigger the V6 Rx, BUT I can not adjust the flash power output at all.
If I use the V6 as Tx and the V6ii as a Rx, the same results occur.

I'm using a canon 430EX ii (but that doesn't make any difference. The V6 does not respond to any setting changes)

All units have been updated to the lated firmware releases.

  • Hello

I link in again because my problem is linked to this titel.

I have 2 V6 & one V6II - after the Firmware updates it is possible to trigger flashes on the V6 by the V6II on the camera.

As soon as I reverse the setup (V6 on camera/Flash on V6II) I can trigger the flashes by using the V6-button for test flash - but the camera doue not trigger the remote flashes-but the green LED shows that they talk to each other somehow. This was tested with a Pentax FGZ360 (Setup) and a Metz 26 AF-1 for Pentax (Auto-Setup).

So the question: Is it possibel to trigger V6II receivers by V6 Triggers?.
