Fujifilm compatibility with X-T2
Hi,
I just received my new Fujifilm X-T2. I already worked with Cactus V6 II and RF60's in combination with my X-T1 and that worked properly, but with my new X-T2 it will not work in HSS mode. As soon as I use Forced HSS, the flashes will fire with a 2 second delay after shutter already released. I have the latest firmware update installed: 1.1.004
Greetings, Thomas

Tx unit set to "OTHERS", flash works ok up to max sync speed. Past 1/250, flash fires but does not show up at all in the exposure. No black bar at bottom of frame.
Tx unit manually set to "FUJIFILM", flash does not work at all. Upon shutter release, Rx unit flash green led to acknowledge command but flash does not fire. Pressing test button on Tx unit triggers flash.
When will a new firmware be available?
We don't have a date yet.
Will keep y'all posted.
FYI the X-T2 runs on the newer firmware version, which is suppose to communicate wtih the upcoming Fujifilm EF-X500 flash. This firmware finally adds HSS. Whilst the current firmware on the V6 II "created" a Forced HSS for Fujifilm, working on existing Fujifilm cameras, so certinaly it won't work with the real deal (Fujifilm's own HSS).
Thank you!

Other question: can I use remote power control with the nissin i40 flash (fuji) and my cactuses?
Very nice things these cactus radios, will look into HSS territory later on

If anyone is interested to trying the beta firmware please send us an email.
But I think we are ready to release within a couple of weeks.
Thanks!

If you are, always switch on the protable falsh first, then the V6 II to RX mode.
Or you may also manually selecting a flash profile.
Please let me know if this helps.
Thanks!

I have noticed that if I half-press the shutter release, also the camera to acquire focus, then fully depress that the flash fires correctly. If I fully depress the shutter button without a pre half-press, the camera will still wait for focus to acquire prior to releasing the shutter; however, the flash will not fire. Are you noticing a misfire when you half-press the shutter prior to full release?

Do we know where there will be a final release that works with XT2 and provides HSS?
You can get it by just clicking Check Latest Firmware button in the Firmware Updater program.

Using Nikon SB800 in one Cactus hotshoe and the other Cactus in the XT2 in the hotshoe.
Triggering at all speeds works fine, as does power control.
You MUST have the FORCED HSS switched ON.
The Cactus unit (TX) seems to forget what HSS mode it was last in, so you need to make sure that Forced HSS is set before using.
Dont seem to be able to change the flash zoom up/down as I know is possible with the Cactus RF60 unit.
The HSS now works at all speeds but at 1/8000 it seems to be patchy works sometimes but not others. At 1/4000 and below, all things work as expected.
My SB800 loses about two stops of power in HSS mode.
Should the flash zoom on the SB800 be controlled by the v6 Mkii?
Again, when the EF-X500 is available, we hope there's no longer the need to deal with "Forced HSS".

. I suppose you already pressed the OK button to swap between power and zoom on the V6 II?
We don't have any SB-800 left in the studio but tested on a SB-600 and it worked just fine. For my test I used the AUTO flash profile.
Thanks!

I will try with my SB600 but SB800 are my main units.
It should also apply to X-Pro2 running on v2.0.

Just remember to switch on the flash first, then the V6 II so it could detect the flash properly.
