Trying to update Cactus V6 II Trigger, and don't know which firmware to use!

Hi all,

I have a Cactus V6 II that I would like to use on a Fujifilm and Canon system.  I'm mostly interested in manual and HSS.  Haven't really gotten into TTL.
When I connect my V6 II to my computer, and load up the Firmware updated, there's a ton of firmware updates.  There is some that signify Fuji specific, and Sigma specific, and then there seem to be general updates.  I updated to the general update version 1.1.011.  Will that give me all functionality offered on the Cactus V6 II or do I need to get those specific Fuji firmwares?
Also keeping in mind I'd like to use the V6 for both Canon and Fuji bodies.

  • If you want to switch between Canon and Fuji without changing the firmware all the time then (multi-brand) V1.1.011 is the right version for you.

The Fuji-specific firmware variant is for enabling "X-TTL". If you don't use TTL then there is probably little reason for you to choose this variant, as it will not work with your Canon camera. There is no Canon-equivalent variant yet, but it is on the X-TTL roadmap. However, even if the Canon-equivalent variant becomes available, you are going to always choose between it or the Fuji variant. Only the multi-brand variant (currently available in version V1.1.011) allows you to dynamically change the system.

I'll defer to a Fuji specialist to comment on whether or not HSS is easier to achieve with V1.1.011 (in the past there was a need for a "Forced HSS" procedure) compared to the X-TTL variant. I think to get the best answer with respect to this aspect, you should mention which Fuji camera model you are using.
  • Thanks! That clears up a lot.

I’m currently using a Fuji x-t2 and x-pro2. I do want HSS but not TTL so I’d be curious to hear with the multi-brand firmware if it is still easy to achieve HSS on Fuji
  • Hi @syrcular,  get the X-TTL for Fufjifilm firmware anyway.

Because you can toggle from TTL to Manual control by pressing the group button.

You will have remote manual power control, remote zoom control, remote HSS.

To help us better help you, always state the exact firmware version installed on your Cactus device(s), such as: "1.1.013", "NIK.A.001", "v.103", or "A06".

TTL or HSS not working on Cactus V6 II and V6 IIs? Be sure to check hot shoe connectivity by doing the <CAMERA INFO> check.
